Responsibility
We believe that brands can be responsible members of society.
As an independent, family-owned, rural business, our most important stakeholder is nature. Our responsibility goes beyond the typical box-ticking of sustainability, and instead considers how we can truly bring about positive change in the world.
We’re not minimalists — we are essentialists. Every item, every piece, has a role to play. By carefully examining every design and commercial decision we make, we’re able to naturally eliminate harmful outputs. Form follows function.
To this end, you won’t find any single-use plastics in our products. Though plastic is thought of as generally recyclable, many types are difficult to process. Instead, we chose aluminium as our foundational material — infinitely recyclable, and universally easy to do so.
Commune was founded on the idea that many small actions can add up to create meaningful change. Therefore, you won’t see us making grand marketing gestures, or employing insidious greenwashing techniques to sell our products. Instead, we take countless smaller-scale actions every single day in every single aspect of our business and brand.
